Partnering with Angels in the Courts of Heaven at Christ's Direction
Mentoring on The Courts of Heaven Replay 9/05/2023
Angels are remarkable spiritual beings created by God to assist in accomplishing His purposes on earth. Scripture contains over 300 references to these divine messengers who traverse between the natural and spiritual realms to bring breakthrough, deliverance, and insight in response to our faith-filled prayers.
When directed by the Holy Spirit, believers have the profound privilege of partnering with God’s angelic hosts to accelerate breakthroughs as we intercede before His throne. As we present our appeals to the Ancient of Days with humility, honor, and persistent devotion, angels are activated to fulfill the King’s decrees.
What does properly partnering with these spiritual forces in the Courts of Heaven look like when following Jesus' leading? Let's explore biblical principles for enlisting angelic assistance to manifest breakthroughs at Christ's direction.
Understanding Angels' Role and Purpose
To understand how to partner with angels at the Lord's prompting, we must first grasp their origins and divine purpose. Scripture reveals that like humanity, angels are created beings, brought into existence directly by God rather than procreated (Colossians 1:16).
The angelic host surrounds God's throne continuously worshipping Him and await dispatch at His command (Revelation 5:11, Psalm 103:20). Angels possess higher abilities than humans in certain dimensions, yet remain limited in knowledge and power compared to the omniscient, omnipotent Creator who formed them (Hebrews 1:4-7, Psalm 8:4-5).
Angels are described as "ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation" (Hebrews 1:14). Assigned by God, they deliver messages, provide guidance, execute His judgment, offer sustenance and strength to believers, and facilitate breakthroughs in response to prayer decrees spoken under the Spirit's direction (Acts 12:7-10, Psalm 34:7, Genesis 19:13). Angels also usher departed believers into God’s presence and guard both children and Christ-followers (Luke 16:22, Matthew 18:10).
This range of duties outlined in Scripture demonstrates angels' purpose is to fulfill the King's orders for His glory. When God prompts us in prayer to dispatch them, we must do so with humility, honor, and sensitivity to His timing and direction.
Biblical Examples of Angelic Encounters
In addition to general responsibilities, at pivotal moments in Scripture we see angels personally interacting with God's servants to provide instruction, deliverance, and revelation. Let's examine some notable examples:
- Abraham – When about to sacrifice Isaac, an angel intervened with a ram for sacrifice, proving God’s provision.
- Moses – An angel appeared in the burning bush to appoint Moses as Israel’s deliverer from Egypt.
- Joshua - The captain of the Lord's angelic army appeared to Joshua before the battle of Jericho.
- Elijah - Angels strengthened Elijah twice when fleeing Jezebel, providing food and transport.
- Daniel – Angels revealed prophetic mysteries of the end times in response to Daniel’s persistent prayer.
- Zechariah – The angel Gabriel announced the birth of John the Baptist in response to Zechariah’s prayers.
- Mary – Gabriel declared she would miraculously conceive Jesus by the Holy Spirit’s power.
- Peter – An angel appeared in prison causing Peter’s chains to fall off and led him past guards.
- Paul – An angel assured Paul no lives would be lost in the stormy sea voyage to Rome because God granted his prayers.
- John – Throughout Revelation angels reveal the coming tribulation events to John on Patmos.
We see angels actively participating in God's plans by providing timely assistance, deliverance, revelation, and breakthrough for His people. As we intercede before the Courts of Heaven at the Spirit's leading, similar divine encounters await us today!
Principles for Partnering with Angels
While Scripture contains many examples of angels assisting believers, we must be careful only to enlist their help at the clear prompting of the Holy Spirit to avoid presumption and error. Here are wise principles for partnering with angels in prayer:
1. Humility – Recognize that no human can command heaven’s forces independently. We must maintain an attitude of humility, honor, and dependency on Christ (James 4:10).
2. Persistence - Present your requests consistently before God’s throne until you receive breakthrough. Persevere in prayer like Daniel (Daniel 10:12).
3. Spirit’s Leading – Only release angels in response to the Spirit’s clear inner promptings, not your own agenda. Avoid presumptuousness (Romans 8:14).
4. Decreeing Scripture – Use Scripture passages about angels and God’s promises to fuel your faith-filled decrees and petitions (Psalm 103:20-21).
5. Expectation – After releasing angels in prayer, expect heavenly breakthrough knowing God dispatched them in response to your decree (Daniel 10:12).
6. Gratitude – Thank the Lord in advance for sending His angels to fulfill His plans in answer to your prayers (Daniel 9:20-23).
7. Wait Patiently – If the breakthrough is delayed, keep appealing to the Courts of Heaven in faith until it is manifested (Daniel 10:2-3).
Walking in an attitude of humility while clinging to God's promises, we can confidently enroll angelic assistance in accelerating breakthroughs through intercession under the Spirit's direction.
Daniel's Example in Partnering with Angels
The book of Daniel provides an excellent model for effectively partnering with angels through persistent intercession immersed in worship.
In Daniel 10 after humbling himself in fasting and prayer for 21 days to gain revelation, Daniel experiences heavenly breakthrough. An angel appears explaining the demonic Prince of Persia had resisted his prayers, but the Archangel Michael was dispatched to intervene after Daniel’s three weeks of appeal to God's throne.
This reveals the necessity of persevering in prayer until the Lord dispatches our angelic breakthrough from the Courts of Heaven. Though demonic opposition attempts to hinder, as we appeal to the Righteous Judge our intercession will eventually breakthrough.
Daniel models tenacity in crying out for God to unveil mysteries and send angelic assistance. The book of Revelation also demonstrates the intrinsic connection between engaging angels in the Courts and breakthrough intercession.
In Revelation 8:3-5, angelic help is dispatched in response to the fervent prayers of the saints offered with incense before God’s throne. Truly Scripture upholds the reality of partnering with angels when led by the Holy Spirit to accelerate breakthrough.
Keys for Partnering with Angels in Prayer
If sensing the Lord's prompting, here are some practical steps for enlisting angels' help in your prayers:
1. Present your requests humbly and consistently before God’s throne until you receive breakthrough.
2. Ask the Lord to dispatch appropriate angels if direction has not yet come.
3. Only release angels when you clearly sense the inner witness of the Spirit approving this decree.
4. Ground your appeal in Scripture passages about angels assisting God’s people.
5. Decree God’s will and truth over your circumstances as His Spirit leads you.
6. After releasing angels in faith, expect heavenly breakthrough in alignment with God’s timing.
7. Walk by faith, not sight - thank the Lord in advance for interventions on their way.
8. If opposition or delay arise, keep appealing to the Courts in persistent intercession.
9. Carefully listen for wisdom from the Holy Spirit each step of the way.
When we incorporate these prayer principles under the Spirit’s guidance, partnering with angels accelerates breakthrough in powerful ways. What an honor to employ these divine resources our Commander provides for Kingdom advancement!
Cultivating an Intimate Prayer Life
Of course, effectively partnering with angels in intercession requires cultivating an intimate prayer life and the capacity to recognize the Spirit’s voice.
As we dedicate extended times to pursuing God’s face in consistent devotion, we become attuned to the sound of His voice whispering guidance, wisdom and direction in our inner man. A lifestyle of daily praise, worship, meditation on Scripture, and listening prayer is essential to clearly discern the nudges of the Holy Spirit.
As we faithfully devote ourselves to seeking God’s heart and saturating our minds with His Word, we will gain discernment to know when He is prompting us to employ angelic assistance in our strategic prayers. Without intimacy cultivated through regular alone time with the Lord, we will lack the sensitivity to accurately recognize the Spirit’s signals.
The enemy could potentially counterfeit an “inner prompting” if we have not developed skill through consistent time in God’s presence communing with Him. Intimacy protects us from deception and releases confidence in following the Spirit’s cues.
Jesus continually withdrew into solitary places of prayer to realign with the Father's voice and will. We must follow His example by stewarding a vibrant secret history with God in order to clearly hear His directives when praying.
Angelic Assistance Ushers in Breakthrough
When led by the Holy Spirit to enlist angels in our appeals to God’s throne, these divine helpers are activated to accelerate breakthrough in remarkable ways. Here are some examples from Scripture of how angels facilitated breakthrough when God's people prayed:
- Unlocking wisdom - Daniel received expanded prophetic understanding from the angel Gabriel in response to prayer (Daniel 9:20-23).
- Sparking revival – An angel stirred the waters at Bethesda pool resulting in healing for the sick (John 5:4).
- Providing sustenance – An angel brought food and water to strengthen Elijah twice during his journey (1 Kings 19:5-8).
- Opening wombs – Angels announced the conception of John the Baptist and Jesus after years of barrenness (Luke 1:11-20, 26-38).
- Breaking strongholds – An angel struck down Herod after he arrogantly accepted worship (Acts 12:23).
- Facilitating deliverance – Angels provided divine strategies that unlocked victory for God's people (2 Kings 6:15-17).
- Executing justice – An angel annihilated Sennacherib’s army besieging Jerusalem (2 Kings 19:35).
- Furthering the Great Commission – An angel guided Philip in his evangelistic ministry to the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:26).
- Removing barriers – An angel led Peter out of prison past guards, unlocking chains and gates (Acts 12:6-10).
When we steward angelic assistance according to biblical guidelines under the Spirit’s direction, these powerful interventions manifest breakthrough and unlock destiny. What an amazing spiritual weapon our Commander provides when wielded rightly for His glory!
In Closing
My friend, God invites us to experience deeper realities of partnering with His angelic hosts to fulfill His plans on earth in response to our prayers. As we cultivate intimacy with Him through a lifestyle of devotion, He will sensitize our spiritual ears to know when He prompts releasing angels into assignments in the Courts of Heaven. This accelerates breakthrough against demonic opposition and ushers in revival and destiny.
Of course, we must proceed with care, humility, and reliance on the Spirit's leading in enlisting angelic help. But when following biblical principles under Christ's direction, remarkable heavenly assistance awaits us.

Healing The Brokenhearted
Pastor Tomlinson demonstrates principles in action by engaging volunteers:
Testimony for Nathaniel:
Nathaniel reached out during the webinar seeking breakthrough from spiritual oppression that had been tormenting him for several years. He shared that whenever he tried to pray, he would feel an intense blockage and demonic presence in the center of his head that brought depression, frustration and emotional turmoil. This attack had persisted for over 3-4 years after initially starting out of the blue during a stressful season filled with relationship problems and financial hardships.
Pastor Timothy gently guided Nathaniel to call on Jesus' name and authority to gain freedom. He led him through prayers asking the Lord to reveal the open doorways and legal rights granting this demonic access. After crying out to the Lord, Nathaniel shared he felt an powerful heavenly presence and sensed deep spiritual healing taking place. Pastor Timothy instructed him to ask Jesus directly whether he was guilty or not guilty regarding this issue. Nathaniel heard the Lord declare him "not guilty" and proclaim freedom over his life.
In closing, Pastor Timothy explained that persistently approaching the mercy seat of Christ frees us from years of torment. Though the enemy tries to discourage us from appealing to God's throne through spiritual blockages, Jesus eagerly welcomes His children into His holy presence to testify on our behalf. Nathaniel experienced firsthand the swift breakthrough, inner healing and "not guilty" verdict Jesus provides when we humbly bring our cases before Him as the Righteous Judge. This encounter demonstrated the incredible liberation, restoration and heavenly resources available as we partner with Christ in the Courts of Heaven.
Testimony for Melvin:
Melvin reached out sharing he had been severely demonically oppressed and tormented for over 5 years. He described hearing constant voices, inability to sleep, seeing disturbing visions and feeling unseen forces touching him. Though he had experienced some initial freedom in deliverance, full victory had not yet manifested. Melvin was still desperate for total restoration and healing.
Pastor Timothy led Melvin in prayers bringing these issues before the Courts of Heaven. He instructed him to call on the Lord to dispatch archangels and break through demonic hindrances as God did for Daniel in Scripture. Though Melvin cried out sincerely, he was unable to hear the Spirit's direction clearly regarding the legal rights granting this access. Pastor Timothy gently explained that we do not always immediately receive answers when appealing to God's throne. Just as persistently knocking on a door eventually gains a response, we must persevere in prayer until the Lord reveals how to proceed.
Though complete liberation did not manifest in this session, Pastor Timothy encouraged Melvin to never give up appealing to Christ. He exhorted him to continually reapproach God's throne of grace until all hindrances are removed. As we emulate the tenacity of biblical heroes like Daniel, revelation and breakthrough will surely come in God's timing. Melvin was urged to steadfastly fix his eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of his faith, trusting that the God who began this good work will be faithful to complete it. As he persists in partnering with the Holy Spirit through prayer, the Lord promises to illuminate the path forward to walk in full freedom.
