Journey to Wholeness: Understanding Self Inner Healing and Its Role in Christian Transformation

Journey to Wholeness: Understanding Self Inner Healing and Its Role in Christian Transformation

Life is a journey. It can be compared to traversing through a labyrinth, some parts bathed in sunshine, while others shrouded in darkness. The dark segments represent our hidden fears, painful memories, and the elements that bring us down. To navigate through these parts, we need a source of light. This light, in Christian faith, comes through the concept of self-inner healing. It’s like a flashlight, helping us find our way out of our personal gloom.

In this blog post, we delve into the principles and importance of self-inner healing from a Christian perspective, the role of the Holy Spirit, forgiveness, and the practical steps towards continuous inner healing and sanctification.

Self Inner Healing: The Christian Approach

Jesus, in Matthew 7:11, reminds us that our Heavenly Father only wants to give us good things when we ask. And the Apostle Paul, in Philippians 4:8, urges us to always think about things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy. These verses offer crucial insight into the healing process.

Our individual healing sessions provide a safe environment to discuss your experiences and challenges - from childhood to adulthood. These conversations invite Jesus to join us, assisting us in addressing our deepest fears and struggles. It is a process that aligns us with the truth and light of Jesus, who through His words and actions, illuminates our personal darkness. This approach is the foundation of our healing, and it draws inspiration from Jesus's teachings in Luke 4:18.

Self Inner Healing: The Christian Approach

Testimony from Stephanie

Around 30 years ago, I vowed to serve the Lord after He healed me from various challenges. Over time, I realized I hadn't fully committed to my vow, so I called upon Jesus to heal my broken parts and help me forgive myself. As I actively pursued Jesus, He brought freedom, restoration, and forgiveness into my life, lifting any resentment, guilt, or shame. Despite initial difficulties in approaching Jesus as a friend, I found true healing and freedom through this genuine relationship with Him.

Who are the Brokenhearted?

In essence, the 'brokenhearted' is each one of us at some point or another. It refers to anyone who experiences dejection, depression, despondency, or sorrow. Many of us have suffered in various ways through accidents, natural disasters, and different forms of abuse. Such experiences leave deep-seated wounds that require healing.

But the challenge is, not everyone knows how or where to seek healing. We often try to cope in our ways – we might bury the hurt, numb the pain with distractions, or attempt to wish it away. However, these are merely temporary solutions. Unattended wounds often resurface, sometimes used by Satan to cause further pain and torment.

The Holy Spirit, as we grow in Christ, helps us become more aware of these wounds. We start realizing that these scars need healing from Jesus – not a temporary bandage, but true, profound healing.

Who are the Brokenhearted?

Testimony from Bonnie:

During my healing session, I called upon Jesus to heal and restore the pain associated with a difficult memory. I felt abandoned, rejected, and misunderstood after my partner, Michael, left our relationship. I asked Jesus to come heal this part of me, and I forgave Michael for his actions. Although I couldn't see or hear Jesus, I felt a powerful change in the memory itself. It was as if the pages of a book, representing the pain from that event, were being supernaturally removed from my story. I knew then that Jesus had intervened, healing and restoring my spirit. I felt victorious, knowing that with His help, the hurtful event no longer defined my story. In the end, I commanded any lingering demonic spirits to leave in Jesus' name, completing my journey towards healing and restoration.

The Role of the Holy Spirit

In Christian faith, the Holy Spirit is our active guide and companion, acting as the divine communicator between us and God. As described in John 16:13 and Romans 8:26, the Holy Spirit is our Helper, guiding us during life's turbulent times. Whether in one-on-one sessions or personal reflection, the Holy Spirit guides us to understand and address our pain points, ensuring we navigate each step of our healing journey under the loving watch of God.

The Role of the Holy Spirit

Confronting the Demonic Influence

The specter of demonic influence often finds its roots in past wounds that remain unhealed. In the aftermath of humanity's fall in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:16-19), life was destined to become challenging, filled with hardship and toil. The enemy capitalizes on these wounds, establishing what can be seen as a 'legal right' to torment us.

However, the good news is that these demons will not depart until the wounds they exploit are healed and their 'legal right' is rescinded. This is where the power of Jesus comes in. As we bring these issues before Jesus, He heals them, leaving no room for any demonic torment.

Confronting the Demonic Influence

Testimony from Pastor Joe H

I was struggling with false accusations about being a hostile person and dealing with the shame and fear caused by these slanderous statements. I also faced humiliation and condemnation for not being able to overcome my tobacco addiction, which made me question my worthiness as a pastor. When I turned to Jesus for healing, I asked for His help to forgive those who hurt me and to break free from the enemy's accusations. Jesus spoke to my heart, reassuring me of His love and the victory He has given me. I felt His healing presence and commanded the demonic spirit to leave in Jesus' name. Now, I embrace the love and freedom that Jesus has granted me.

Forgiveness and its role in healing

From a Christian perspective, forgiveness is central to the healing process. Unforgiveness leads to resentment, bitterness, and often physical illnesses. It's like a chain around our hearts, restricting us from receiving or giving love freely. But when we forgive, it breaks these chains, releasing us into a new realm of freedom and inner peace. The act of forgiveness reflects the heart of God, for He has forgiven us through the sacrifice of His Son.

Forgiveness and its role in healing

Three Manifestations of Jesus' Healing Power: Discovering Hope, Presence, and Peace

Jesus may manifest His healing in three primary ways. Firstly, in line with John 10:27 and 1 Kings 19:12, He speaks directly to us, replacing harmful untruths with His truth, not only healing our wounds but also mitigating the associated pain. Secondly, He may communicate through personal encounters or visions, much like the biblical accounts of Zachariah (Luke 1:11-20) or Daniel (Daniel 7:9-10). In these divine moments, we may see ourselves at different life stages, revisiting past traumas alongside Jesus's comforting presence, thereby facilitating healing and dissolving pain. Lastly, drawing from the faith of the centurion in Matthew 8:5-13, Jesus extends His peace to our afflictions through the enduring power of His word. Just as in the previous instances, He not only brings healing but also eliminates the pain related to our healed wounds, ensuring comprehensive healing.

Walking Towards Wholeness

In conclusion, the journey to wholeness is an ongoing process of spiritual growth and sanctification. It involves recognizing our brokenness, inviting Jesus into our healing process, receiving guidance from the Holy Spirit, renouncing demonic influence, and embracing forgiveness.

As we continue to walk towards wholeness, we must remember to rely on God's grace, continually seeking His face, and sharing His love with others. Remember, the journey may be challenging, but it is one that leads us to become the persons God intended us to be.

With each step forward, we move closer to our wholeness, our sanctification, and our ultimate home in the heart of God. By living a life of continuous healing and transformation, we align ourselves with God's will, reflecting His glory, and sharing His love with the world around us.

Prayer for Healing and Wholeness in the Name of Jesus

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come before you in the name of Jesus, seeking your divine guidance to illuminate the areas of my life that require your healing touch (Hebrews 4:12). I invite you into the challenges I face with [mention the specific issue], acknowledging that through your death and resurrection, victory is already secured (Mark 11:24).

If there is a need for forgiveness, I choose to release all grudges and extend forgiveness to those who have wronged me (Matthew 6:12). And if forgiveness seems difficult, I humbly ask for the strength of your Holy Spirit to empower me to forgive by faith.

Lord Jesus, I earnestly request that you provide confirmations of your healing presence in my life (John 10:27). Thank you for your boundless love and the restoration you bring. With unwavering faith, I offer this prayer, knowing that you are faithful to answer. Amen.

Dear Warrior in Christ, I encourage you to seek Jesus with the same persistence and boldness as the friend in the parable who came in the middle of the night, seeking provisions for his unexpected guests. Knock on the door of heaven, seek His presence, and ask Him for what you need without hesitation or shame. Be relentless in your pursuit of Jesus, persisting in prayer until He provides and meets your needs. - Pastor Timothy Tomlinson

Blessings,

Pastor Timothy Tomlinson
