Restoring the Pages: A Testimony of Healing and Redemption Through Jesus

Bonnie's 1 on 1 Christian Counseling & Inner Healing Session with Pastor Timothy:

Working to exhaustion with the hope that one day, each of my projects and practices would place me in the right alignment for an ideal job opportunity, I grew accustomed to defeat. The high of landing a job that I thought would set me on the right path to achieve the potential I felt was within me was almost always matched—timing-wise at least—by a crashing low when the job fizzled out and left me with nothing but... I don’t even know... just a yawning space of What Now? Each of these experiences fed my potential imposter syndrome and added ammunition to my arsenal of "reasons," in the past, to not see myself as a viable, hireable professional.

In search of comfort and direction, Bonnie attended a spiritual healing session. There, she poured out her soul, speaking of the intense rejection she had faced, of the anxiety that had wrapped its coils around her work and her very sense of self. Pastor Timothy validated Bonnie's experience, making it very clear that what had happened to her was not fair, was not right. They helped Bonnie bring the matter to prayer and to call on Jesus—the ultimate and, indeed, healing healer.

As the prayer session continued, Bonnie's experience underwent a profound change. Pastor Timothy showed her how to forgive her bosses for the unfair way they had treated her. This act of mercy lifted such a big weight from Bonnie's heart that she quite forgot she was in a mess hall, with 50 or so women also praying in small circles.

The next moment was even more powerful. Bonnie didn't just mentally forgive those who had hurt her; she actually spoke words of forgiveness, during which she felt "the strongest presence of Jesus I have ever felt." Following are Bonnie's own words: "I renounced the bitterness, the unforgiveness, and the hatred I felt for the people who had caused me pain. I forgave them, and over the next few days, I was able to forgive even more; even acts I hadn't been able to name before arose in my memory, and I forgave them when I named them."

Bonnie's experience was more than what she expected. During the session, she received a striking vision. She saw a hurricane-like wind tear through the area, sweeping away debris. As the vision unfolded, Bonnie realized that the windstorm in her mind wasn't going to pass until it cleansed not just her past hurts but also their residue of negative emotions and unhelpful patterns of thinking. "The wind is blowing," she told Pastor Timothy. "And it's tearing through my life. And it's uprooting things. And when the wind is done, there's just going to be a sense of peace that pervades."

Bonnie experienced a dramatic shift in her perspective after her spiritual healing session. The troubling anxiety she had shouldered for so long was suddenly gone, and, in its place, a clear sense of renewed purpose and confidence arose in her. She found the peace and solace she had been longing for, and something inside her that had been wounded and trying to heal for too many years finally found release and resolution.
