Love One Another, Love Your Enemies
This particular passage from Colossians 1 you will see the disciples knew how to pray because they were taught by Jesus. Those three years spent under Jesus's ministry were to prepare the disciples for ministry work. Jesus taught them how to pray, use the authority of Jesus, get cleaned up and to lift up the needs of their friends, family, bothers and sisters in the Lord and their enemies.
Jesus taught on love and the importance of loving your neighbor.
Colossians 1:3-14
I always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when I pray for you! I continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
I love using the scriptures as part of my prayer to the Lord.
Mark 12:30-31 (NIV) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.
It seems as if we have forgotten the Lords instructions for our lives. We are to love one another and truly be there for anyone who needs our help. If we follow these instructions then we don't have to worry about any of the other commandments because we will be walking in love and following what the Lord taught us. We need to love and treat people right and that includes lifting up or friends, family and enemies before the Lord.
If we truly say we are Christians then we need to act like Christians and love our neighbor. Just not that we need not to judge people. It doesn't matter what they look like we need to love on them and not talk bad about them.
Matthew 7:1-2 (NIV) Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Lets start today with the guidance of the Holy Spirit to walk in Love and do our best to not judge or talk bad about anyone. I know this isn't an easy thing to do however we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Lets walk in love and act it out just like Jesus.
If you start your day off right by seeking the Lord, making sure we are cleaned up from our past sins and unforgiveness towards others, have the armor of God on and lift up our family, brothers and sisters in the Lord and pray for our enemies then we have the right recipe for success for the day. It makes it so much easier to come to the Lord when things aren't going right when we seek God first thing in the day.
I'm teaching you to walk a successful life through Jesus Christ and by doing this we can impact our community, our family and our enemies with the love of God through us. We are missionaries at our work place, to our families and to the world. When people look at you they will see the Love of God through you and it will impact their lives.
Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV) You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
We need to let our light shine! Not by preaching to people, or judging them; by loving on them and being there for community, our family and our brothers and sisters in the Lord. This is how we impact the world.
Prayer:
Father God we come before you in Jesus name and worship and adore you. Father God I want to be cleaned up so I can be used by you even greater and so that the enemy will not have a stronghold on my life. Father God forgive me for my sins (Share with the Lord what sins you ave committed from the most recent to the oldest to the best of your remembrance).Lord for the sins that I don’t remember I ask you to do a blanket covering and wash me clean by your blood and forgive me for my wickedness.
Father I now forgive those who have done me wrong and have borrowed from me (speak the persons name and a small description of what they get done and tell the Lord that you forgive them. You will need to do this for every person that you have held unforgiveness for. In the beginning this will take some time and I suggest that you get a pen and paper and write down from the most immediate person who hurt you and bring it all the way back to your childhood. The ones that you cannot remember asked the Lord to bring back remembrance of those who have hurt you so that you can forgive them. For the people that you don’t remember who have hurt you you were going to ask the Lord to put a blanket covering over those old wounds and heal your heart. Once the Lord brings back to remembrance then forgive them and move on.)
Father lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Lord now that I’m cleaned up and that I have forgiven those who have done me wrong I now put on the full armor of God.
Ephesians 6:13-18 CEB Therefore, pick up the full armor of God so that you can stand your ground on the evil day and after you have done everything possible to still stand. So stand with the belt of truth around your waist, justice as your breastplate, and put shoes on your feet so that you are ready to spread the good news of peace. Above all, carry the shield of faith so that you can extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word. Offer prayers and petitions in the Spirit all the time. Stay alert by hanging in there and praying for all believers.
Father now with my armor on I am able to go into the spiritual battle field of my day and stand firm in the power of your might.
Lord I lift up the Lords people along with my friends, family and enemies (Matthew 5:44). Lord I pray a hedge of protection over them as I stand in the gap for those who are not saved (Ezekiel 22:30). Father please send the Lord of the harvest (Matthew 9:38) to minister to my friends.
